Check it out on Amazon.

Its release date is November 1 even though Amazon shows it as available now. According to the publisher the printer releases info to Amazon early on in the process. Once copies are sent to the reviewers (hopefully in two weeks) the publisher will have Amazon adjust its status to show the actual release date. Still do not understand Amazon’s sales ranking but it apparently started out as #334007 two days ago.

I just sold the podcast audio rights for the pulpy short story “You’re a Moron” to Well Told Tales. The story first appeared in THUGLIT in January. Here’s the website: http://welltoldtales.com/originals Check out the number of downloads some of these short stories have had (thousands!).

Received many kudos from peers, family and other friends alike for being the feature interview of Horror Bound Magazine’s June 2009 issue. Check it out:

Also learned from HB’s editor Maria Grazia that the interview has had more hits than HB’s interview with Ramsey Campbell, who according to Maria is arguably the best horror writer alive today.

Yep. This weekend of 4/25 - 4/26. Stop in, check it out, watch the author make a fool of himself talking nonsense while trying to market his serious paranormal/horror novel SCARS ON THE FACE OF GOD: THE DEVIL’S BIBLE. Contest for a free copy of SOTFOG (comment to win).

It’s one of those things you do when you’re scared as hell and figure you don’t have much of a chance. You step up, thrust out your chest, face the monster or bully or disease or dark room or Lucifer or the abyss or whomever or whatever, then you spit in its face and say GO AHEAD AND TAKE YOUR BEST SHOT ‘CAUSE I’M NOT LEAVING. You coil your fists ready to unload and hope the scary thing hasn’t noticed you’ve just wet your pants. Then you wait for it to make its move.

That’s how this novelist dealt with fear of the unknown. Small press Drollerie Press put my debut novel out there as an eBook in December (SCARS ON THE FACE OF GOD: THE DEVIL’S BIBLE, a horror novel by C. G. Bauer), will release it in paperback later this year. An aging church custodian/ex-con confronts an orphaned child who may or may not be the anti-Christ. The novel exploits the real life existence of the Devil’s Bible, a massive surviving 13th century religious manuscript with legendary origins that include the Devil as co-author, Satan having allegedly helped a monk complete it in one night. Google it if you get a chance.

Four excellent book reviews later (no dissenters), Amazon customer reviews all at 5 stars (fine, there’s only five of them but three of them are from people the author didn’t actually already know) and a mention in Publisher’s Lunch as an Amazon-for-Kindle-Top-Mover-&-Shaker (#3) for the week ending March 7, all this is telling one increasingly boastful author that this thing just may have some legs.

“If you build it, they will come.”

Book reviewers? I await your engagement, pdf available now for your reviewing pleasure, paperback ARC April-May. Bloggers who review books? Ditto. Readers who want to leave reviews? Only way to go there is for you to get it into your hands the old fashioned way (except as noted below): amazon.com, fictionwise.com, mobipocket.com, booksonboard.com, and of course through the publisher, drolleriepress.com. You can email the author at cntbauer101 at yahoo dot com.

Yes, I am afraid, but I will not cower. Read the novel then unload your thoughts in whatever venue you got. I’m a big boy and I can take it, but I also like my chances.

One more thing. Check out the blog “Book Talk with J&J” (booksbypickles.com) April 25-26. My first interview. If you play your cards right, there’s a free eBook in it for you.

Well, it’s finally worn off. Was very pleasantly surprised when there was suddenly enough Amazon/Kindle activity to shoot SOTFOG to #3 on Amazon for Kindle’s Top Movers & Shakers list for week ending March 7. A number of folks contacted me on the good fortune, memorialized in Publishers Lunch beginning the following week. But here’s the thing. I DON’T KNOW WHAT MADE THIS HAPPEN. Fine, of course I know that a 1600% increase in eBook sales from one week to the next comes from, well, a 1600% increase in sales. But why? Where is this place that the novel appeared that had such an impact? I want to go there, thank this group of folks who buzzed this thing into the short feeding frenzy it has had, THEN I WANT TO DO IT AGAIN.

First, I’m gratified my novel is out there, published by Drollerie Press. Ebook version was released December 2008. Print version release TBD 2009. Yes, admittedly I’ll be most excited when the paperback comes out because the ebook market is still not considered mainstream. That will change, of course; is changing every day as indicative of the new titles available on Amazon.  So I figured I’d pass along an excellent blog post on the topic of ebooks from Angela Wilson’s blog: http://www.askangelawilson.com/ebooks/

Check out my novel’s first customer review. Now we’re cooking.

Drum roll please.

Drollerie Press will release SCARS ON THE FACE OF GOD: THE DEVIL’S BIBLE as an E-book 12/08. Check out my new author page on the Drollerie Press website. http://drolleriepress.com/Authors/?page_id=136

Once there, check out the site’s Interact page to see links to SOTFOG’s two currently available reviews. Say hi, leave a comment, let folks know you guys are paying attention.

If E-books aren’t your thing, stay tuned. The trade paperback will be released in 2009, date pending.

Got ‘em. Both reviewers liked it. A lot.

Yep. Came in the other day. Scott Nicholson, thriller author of http://www.hauntedcomputer.com/bibliogr.htm (better for you to see all his stuff for yourself) agreed to take a look at SOTFOG and volunteered the following:

“Chris Bauer writes with passion and intensity, tackling the mysteries of faith and fear. Hotter than the flames of hell.” - Scott Nicholson, author of Scattered Ashes

Yeah, I’m feeling pretty good about it, thanks for asking.
